Gungan Energy Balls
|
|
|
You start the level following after
Qui-Gon and Jar
Jar. Eventually Qui-Gon and Jar Jar stop to talk to a Gungan security
guard.
If you hang back a bit‚ head to the right and get the Gungan energy
balls.
If you’re too close to Qui-Gon and Jar Jar‚ the game makes you stand
behind
them while they talk to the guard. You can get the energy balls later
if
the game makes you follow Qui-Gon to Boss Nass. After this level there
are no more Gungan energy balls‚ so grab ’em while you can. If you
haven’t
used any‚ you should have twenty four by the end of this level. Gungan
energy balls will destroy droids in the PSX version‚ but only stun them
in the PC version (like a Force push).

Talk to Boss Nass
|
Force
Push the Guard |
|
|
While Qui-Gon talks with Boss Nass,
Jar Jar is arrested‚
“To be pounded until death.” When Qui-Gon sends you off after
him‚
head to the right and take the bubble lift down a level. When you find
a guard blocking your way‚ Force push him instead of killing him (it
makes
the other guards less mad). Sometimes the Force push doesn’t do
anything
to him– this may be a glitch in the game. Instead of killing him‚
adjust
your position until it knocks him on his bum. Occasionally the Force
push
kills the guard‚ so it’s good practice to save your game before trying.
If you’re using the PSX version you don’t have to bother with all this.
Just run by on the (your) right side.
|
| |
|
|
Talk to this Gungan. Don’t ask for
help right away‚ instead ask him “What has become of Jar Jar?”
and “Is there another way to reach the detention area?” He’ll
tell
you to “follow the other long path to find Ja’ Ja.’” Now ask him
to help you. He will give you a Gungan security passcard.
|
|
To get across you need to jump from the left
pillar‚
to the middle one‚ then jump to the ledge and flip up. If you fall‚ the
right pillar will take you back up. An easier way to do this is to jump
down and get on the middle pillar before it gets a chance to rise. The
guards will probably attack you‚ so run between them to get by.

Blaster
Rifle.
|
|
|
Everybody hates this spot. Yes‚ you have to
jump on
the sinking pillars to get across‚ but it’s not as bad as it seems. The
thing you need to remember is that you have plenty of time so don’t
rush–
that’s usually what causes people to fall in the drink. Numbering them
clockwise from the bottom (where you start) you need to go 1‚ 2‚ 4‚ 3
to
get across. If you want the blaster (above right) you need to go 1‚ 2‚
4‚ 5.

Gungan
Energy Balls.
|
|
|
If you do this you’ll fall in and have to go
through
it all again to get across‚ so skip the blaster if you’re having
trouble
and remember to save your game as soon as you get across! Remember to
take
each jump separately and take your time; turn and aim yourself at the
next
pillar. Once you make it across‚ head down the hallway and enter the
first
room on your right to grab the Gungan energy balls

Gungan
Energy Balls.
|
|
|
|
Leave the room and turn right. Enter the
room immediately
on your left for some more Gungan energy balls. The guards in this area
are more hostile than most so be wary. You don’t have to fight them‚
just
run around them. Head out of the room to the left and grab the lift.
|
|
The bubblelift brings you to a room with a
long swirling
ramp like thing. Push the button (above left) and race up the spiraling
ramp to get through the door at the top‚ which is on a timer. If you
fall
off‚ push the block over to get back up. If you fall from further up‚
you’ll
die. So don’t fall off.
|
| |
|
|
|
Use the security key and a Jedi mind trick
to get
past this guard. You don’t have to have the passcard to get by him‚ but
it’ll take longer if you don’t. If you want to be a complete gunky‚ you
can also kill him to get the door open‚ but that’s the way for the
weak-minded.
|
|
Head down the hall to this room (above
left). The
door on the right is locked‚ so head down the one to left until you
reach
the room with the four pillars. Numbering them one to four starting at
the upper left and going clockwise‚ the pillars will sink 1‚ 3‚ 4‚
2.
Push the block over to each of them and push the button above it.
|
| |
|
|
|
When you’ve pushed all four buttons‚ jump
through
the newly opened floor to trigger the locked door. Head through the
newly
opened door to a room with a pillar in the center. Jump to the
ground.
|
|
Pull the block over‚ then hit the button and
jump
up and across to the small balcony. Now head down the hall and ask the
Gungan (above right) to raise the bubblelifts for you. He will oblige.
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Take the bubblelift down and Force push your
way past
another security guard. Then head down the hall to the adjoining room.
|
|
When you get to the next room‚ take the path
to the
right and go down the ramp. To the right is the bongo bay‚ but you
can’t
get to it without Jar Jar.

Jar Binks
|
|
|
Talk to this guy (above left). Tell him
you’ve‚ “Come
for Jar Jar Binks.” Use a Jedi mind trick and say‚ “It is
dangerous
to have Jar Jar here. I will take him away.” Talk to Jar Jar and
he’ll
lead you to Qui-Gon.

To the right of the bubblelift is a
particularly hostile
guard (above right). Feel free to paste him to the wall. Take the
bubblelift
down to Qui-Gon.
